Said-Muhammad Dzhumaev has been released from prison.

Today, Said-Muhammad was released from a penal colony in the Tambov region.
On January 23, 2021, Dzhumaev, then a student at Moscow State University, participated in a rally on Pushkin Square supporting opposition politician Alexei Navalny. Soon after, a video circulated widely showing Dzhumaev fighting back against several riot police officers in full gear armed with rubber batons during the dispersal of protesters. He was detained a few days after the rally.
In court, attorney Murad Musaev noted that the security forces involved in the case as victims had withdrawn any claims against Dzhumaev during the trial. Nevertheless, in August 2021, the court sentenced Dzhumaev to five years in a general-regime penal colony on charges of using violence against representatives of authority (Part 1, Article 318 of the Russian Criminal Code).
