Gerel Porsunkinova

Attorney

Gerel Porsunkinova represents clients in complex litigation, managing cases from strategic planning through trial and appeals.


Prior to joining Musaev & Associates, PC, Gerel served as a Law Fellow at Our Children's Trust, where she conducted significant legal research into the impacts of climate change on children's rights and mental health, drafting submissions for the OHCHR and analyzing precedential cases in Canada, South Korea, and Colombia. She also consulted for the Environmental Defense Fund, aiding attorneys in challenging regulatory actions limiting transparency on chemical safety.


Gerel previously interned at Greenpeace Russia, where she analyzed forestry regulations across multiple regions, identified critical regulatory inconsistencies with protected nature reserve regimes, and successfully advocated for amendments through strategic legal actions.


Gerel is admitted to the California State Bar and holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) with a Certificate of Specialization in Environmental Law from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, graduating with honors (Dean’s List, top 10%). She earned her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) with excellence from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), specializing in International Law and Legal Support of International Energy Cooperation. Additionally, Gerel distinguished herself as an accomplished oralist in The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, participating from 2020 to 2023 and securing victory in the Russian National Rounds in 2021.
